Cultural Details – Weekly Inspiring Image

For minority people groups all over the world, culture and identity is all about the details. What colour the feathers in your headdress, what pattern you stitch into your clothes, the way you wear jewelry and many more all show where you are from and therefore who you are. Sadly these details are often cause for embarrassment and mocking rather than pride. But the ministry of Bible translation brings the transforming knowledge that God created all peoples, their languages and cultures, and loves them. This young man is wearing the traditional dress of the Matigsalug people of the Philippines while looking on at the celebration for receiving the New Testament in his language. The Matigsalug were previously embarrassed of their language and ethnic heritage but they welcomed God’s word with cultural dances, songs and great joy. Read more about it on wycliffe.net.
