Pastor Adir Kaingang shares his favourite verse from the Kaingang New Testament as the sun sets on the first full day of an indigenous leaders conference held in Brazil. Speaking in his mother tongue he says, “A verse that we like very much today is John 3:16.”
This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. [The Message]
Pastor Adir shares, “This is a verse that makes me very happy – me and all of the Kaingang churches. Because when we hear this verse we want to be firm in our faith in God and fully believe in this message.” Adir and his wife Zeli share the responsibilities of pastoring their church community since it is improper for Kaingang men to teach Kaingang women and vice versa.
